Custom mirrors

Mirrors, made
to measure

Frameless, framed in metal or timber, backlit or suspended. The glass is cut, the frames are welded and sprayed and the light is wired in our Sydney workshop, so the edge, the finish and the light are decided with the people making it.

01 Types of mirrors

Five kinds
of mirror

Every one is made to order. The mirrors below are drawn live, to their true proportions; the suspended one is from a job we made.

  • 01

    Framed in metal

A slim flat-bar frame, cut, welded and finished in our workshop: sprayed, powder-coated, anodised, patina or raw brushed. Any of our shapes.

  • 02

    Framed in timber

A slim edge or a box, in walnut, oak, black, white or dark metallic. Timber is built outward: the size you choose is the glass, and the moulding goes around it.

  • 03

    Backlit

An LED strip behind the glass throws a soft halo onto the wall. Warm, neutral or cool white, tunable or full colour, with a demister pad if it's for a bathroom.

  • Pill-shaped mirrors hung on rods from the ceiling above a curved vanity 04

    Suspended

Hung from the ceiling on a single rod, or on rods above and below, so the mirror floats clear of the wall. These pill-shaped ones hang on aluminium rods at White Fox Headquarters. Suspended mirrors are fixed in place. They are not made to swivel.

  • 05

    Frameless

All glass, with a polished edge as standard or a bevel. Any shape, from a clean rectangle to an organic outline.

How we make it

Cut, edge, back, light, check. From approval, custom work usually takes approx. 4–5 weeks for a framed or backlit mirror, approx. 2–3 weeks for an unlit frameless one, plus 1–3 business days in transit.

Short films of each step are on their way.

  1. Step 1: Cut

The glass is cut to your size and shape in our workshop, curves and organic outlines included.

  2. Step 2: Edge

Every edge is polished, or bevelled if you chose a bevel.

  3. Step 3: Back

Metal frames are welded and sprayed here, timber frames joined; the mirror is fixed in and backed, with its batten to hang it.

  4. Step 4: Light

If it is backlit, the LED strip, driver and plug go on here, and the demister if you asked for one.

  5. Step 5: Check

We check the glass, the edge, the finish and the light before it leaves us.

03 Care guide

Keeping it clear

Cleaning
A soft, dry, lint-free cloth. Spray cleaner onto the cloth, never onto the glass.
Hanging
Use fixings rated for the weight and hang mirrors on two points.
Big pieces
For a heavy or oversized mirror, ask us about installation.
